Terms of use

Last updated 24 October 2026

Cellucid (www.cellucid.com) is a free, open-source web app for looking at single-cell data. These terms cover using it. They are short, because Cellucid asks little of you.

Free and open source

Cellucid is free to use, for any purpose. Its code, and the code of its Python and R packages, is published under the BSD 3-Clause license, which lets you run, change and share it, including running your own copy.

No warranty

Cellucid is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind, as its license says. As far as the law allows, its authors are not liable for any damage that comes from using it. It is a research tool: check a result before you rely on it, and do not use Cellucid to diagnose or treat anyone.

Your data stays yours

Cellucid reads your data in your browser and never uploads it to a Cellucid server, as the privacy policy describes. It claims no rights over your data, or over the figures, sessions and annotations you make with it. You are responsible for having the right to open and share the data you use, above all data about people.

Sample datasets

The sample datasets come from published studies. Each keeps the terms of the study it came from, and records that study and how to cite it.

Other services

When you open a file from another service, or sign in to one, that service's own terms apply: for example Google for Google Drive, Microsoft for OneDrive, and GitHub for community annotation. The same holds for any host your data comes from. Cellucid is not run by, or affiliated with, any of them.

Availability

The site is offered free and as it is. It may change, be unavailable for a while, or stop. Your data is never held by Cellucid, so nothing of yours is lost if it does, and you can always run your own copy.

Citing

If Cellucid helps your published work, please cite it. This is a request, not a condition of use.

Changes and contact

If these terms change, this page and its date change with them. Questions: Kemal Inecik, k.inecik@gmail.com.
